1954 Volkswagen Beetle Karmann Convertible
1954 VW KARMANN CONVERTIBLE
TYPE 15A, L219 CONGO GREEN
THIS EARLY KARMANN CONVERTIBLE IS UNRESTORED
Original 36hp engine # 1-0849288 with a documented 38,800 miles, original split case transmission, convertible semaphores, 6 volt electrical, 100% original interior including seats, door panels, carpet, floor mats, wool headliner, top boot cover.
Nothing on this car has been removed, altered or rebuilt except the brakes and the carburetor in 2001.
This Karmann was built September 9th, 1954 and was a special ordered car delivered via New York to its first owners in Parkridge City, Utah. In 1971 the original owner passed away and the car was sold to an eccentric car collector in West Monroe, Louisiana. For the next 30 years the car was never started and never used. It simply collected dust and was moved around the property by a little red lawn tractor. Total mileage from the second owner is a documented 4 miles. In 1973 the 2nd owner had the outside of the car repainted.
After 10 years of negotiating, I was finally able to buy the car and it was shipped from Louisiana to California in 2001. Months of detailing and a complete mechanical checkup, determined that the car was stored very well and only needed the brakes and the carb rebuilt. That done, she was road worthy again after 30+ years.
I have added the following accessories to this Karmann convertible:
Fanfare horns & fog light set
Petri Hornring
Motometer Gauge set
Dehne Gas Gauge – NOS
Kienzle rearview mirror clock
Trip speedo
Express gas filter setup
Sperrwolf shift lock – NOS
Locking vent wing latches – NOS
AS YOU LOOK AT THIS CAR, REMEMBER HAS ONLY UNDERGONE OUTSIDE PAINT IN 1973.
