Description
1955 Volkswagen Beetle Ribbed Door Early Oval Cabriolet!

There are many great points to this car. The fact it is an early pre 55 oval vert to start. The car has matching body to pan numbers. The car is extremely straight and solid. Most early convertible's have quite a bit of rust, missing parts, doors do not line up and much more. They cost 2 1/2 times more money to restore then a standard beetle or ragtop beetle. The parts they require cost up to 700% more then a standard beetle. Example, Convertible only deck lid or rear view mirror to start. The skill it takes to reassemble, have all proper early convertible parts and to have everything line up can only be done by a select few. The parts and time it takes to build this car requires a large check book to be done correctly. This car is 98% correct in its parts and I will point out where the 2% to go remains to be correct.
This is the more sought after pre 1955 Ribbed door Convertible. In 1955 there were many differences comparable to the later 1956-57 Oval Vert.

We will start with the

Most importantly on this early convertible it has perfect support rails, beautiful pans, and doors line up excellent. Doors shut solid and fit like a glove. The car was never a two tone car in 1955. I would paint the car one tone cream only if I was to keep the car for myself. Or thought about the same color as the 1950 split ragtop color with the beautiful brown stayfast canvas top it has now. That would be sharp. The car is all there, solid, and could be enjoyed as it is for now.
